What is Involved in Eyelid Surgery?
Eyelid surgery is a facial rejuvenation procedure that can produce a more youthful appearance in the eyes. The eyelids are often overlooked by men and women who want to freshen up their appearance and reduce signs of aging. The delicate skin is prone to sagging, and this shifts the natural fat in the upper and lower eyelids. You may be a candidate for eyelid surgery if you notice:
- Upper eyelid hanging over the upper eyelashes
- Eye fatigue even when well-rested
- Sagging of the lower eyelids, possibly to the extent of the soft, pink tissue below the eye being exposed
- Makeup and skin care products are more difficult to apply
- Your eyes look tired
How Much Does Eyelid Surgery Cost in Fayetteville, NC?
The cost of your eyelid surgery will vary depending on the recommended technique and other factors that are determined during the consultation. To help you have a budget in mind when you meet with one of our plastic surgeons, we invite you to learn about our financing options.

How Does Eyelid Surgery Work?
Eyelid surgery does not directly lift the eyebrows, but the surgery does help your eyes look more open. This is due to the removal of the extra skin that currently hangs over the upper part of your eye. Our plastic surgeon may recommend an upper and/or lower eyelid surgery depending on your treatment goals. During the upper eyelid procedure, an incision is made in the natural creases of the eyelids. After making the incision, the surgeon gently pulls the skin taut and trims the excess. For lower eyelid surgery, the incision is typically made along the lower eyelash line. The excess skin is trimmed before the incisions are closed.
What Can I Expect During Recovery From Eyelid Surgery?
After eyelid surgery, you can expect an initial recovery period that lasts one to two weeks. During this time, you will need to take time off of work and other activities to allow the eyes to heal. You will experience some swelling, bruising and occasional blurry vision that will improve over the weeks following treatment.
What Results Can I Expect from Eyelid Surgery?
The results from your eyelid surgery will become noticeable as the body heals and recovers from treatment. Most patients notice results within a few weeks of treatment, with the full results becoming visible in about a month or two. These results will be permanent, although the eyes will still be susceptible to further changes due to aging and other factors. To complement the results of your eyelid surgery, we may recommend one of the following treatments:
