What is Involved in Breast Augmentation?
During your private consultation, Fayetteville board-certified female plastic surgeon Dr. Contogiannis will speak with you in detail about your desires and your options for breast augmentation. She always aims to create beautiful breasts that enhance your overall figure. This surgery may be right for you if you desire larger, firmer, more noticeable breasts. You may choose to have this operation as a cosmetic technique to enhance the contours of your body, to correct volume loss that often happens following pregnancy or to balance different-sized breasts.
Fayetteville plastic surgeon Dr. Contogiannis will explain the different types of implants (saline and silicone) while discussing your options for the size, shape, and type available in breast implants at our Renaissance Center for Plastic Surgery & Wellness.
How Does Breast Augmentation Work?
For this procedure, you will be given general anesthesia and will remain asleep during the entire breast enhancement procedure at our Fayetteville AAAHC accredited outpatient surgical center. Fayetteville plastic surgeon Dr. Contogianniswill make a small incision. You have two incision options:
The periareolar incision is made around the edge of the nipple.
The inframammary incision is the most common, and it runs under the breast, along the breast crease.
Through the incision, she will insert breast implants either in front of or behind the muscle wall. The choice of placement for the implant will be discussed during your visit with Dr. Contogiannis to determine what’s best for you. After placing the implant, Dr. Contogiannis stitches the incision site closed.
What Can I Expect During Recovery from Breast Augmentation in Fayetteville?
After breast enlargement surgery in Fayetteville at our AAAHC accredited outpatient surgical center, patients report some pain as they recover from the procedure. Fayetteville breast augmentation plastic surgeon Dr. Contogiannis will prescribe medication to combat any discomfort. You will need rest the first day, but Dr. Contogiannis recommends that you resume normal activities as soon as possible after surgery in order to speed recovery. There are a few exceptions: You should not lift more than five pounds for the first four weeks of your recovery. The gauze and surgical dressings applied during surgery will be removed within a few days. Your nipples may be sore for a week, and your breast area may be bruised and tender. This tenderness and bruising should go away within a few weeks. Scars fade over the course of a few months.
