What is Involved in a Brachioplasty?
A brachioplasty, also called an arm lift, is a cosmetic surgery treatment that is performed to enhance the shape of the upper arms. The upper arms are susceptible to stubborn fat and loose skin, which can become more noticeable with age. The arm lift procedure eliminates excess skin and fat to enhance the contours of the arm, producing a firm, sculpted appearance. A brachioplasty can complement the figure and often provides patients with an increase in confidence.
Is Brachioplasty Right for Me?
If you are concerned about loose skin or stubborn fat in the arms, and would like to achieve firmer, more defined upper arms, then you may be a good candidate for a brachioplasty. As with all our procedures, we are proud to offer financing options for the brachioplasty procedure to make it a more affordable treatment for those who desire it.
How Does Brachioplasty Work?
The brachioplasty treatment is performed with general anesthesia, which means you will be asleep and entirely comfortable during the procedure. During the treatment, an incision will be made along the inside of the arm, somewhere between the elbow and the armpit. The exact location and size of this incision will depend on your treatment goals. Once the incision is made, we will remove excess skin and fat to reshape the upper arm and produce the desired results.
What Can I Expect During Recovery From a Brachioplasty?
During recovery from your brachioplasty, you can expect swelling, bruising, and varying discomfort in the arms. Many patients take at least a week off of work and other activities during this time, as you are advised against performing many actions that require the arms. You will not be able to resume exercise or other physically demanding activities for about six weeks following your procedure.
What Results Can I Expect from a Brachioplasty?
The results from your brachioplasty should be visible immediately, but it will become more noticeable after any swelling, bruising, and other effects fade. The results from your arm lift procedure can be long-lasting and even permanent, although they cannot prevent gradual changes from occurring due to the natural aging process. Patients are encouraged to practice healthy lifestyle habits to maintain their results.
